James Manson

James has had a career in the landscape construction and horticulture industry for more than 20 years.

During this time, James also studied, gaining a Diploma in Horticulture and Landscape design in his early 20s at the Canberra Institute of Technology and then followed on with further studies to become qualified in landscape construction a few years later.

Between the hands-on work in the field building gardens and the continuing studies, James' knowledge of landscape design has become very rich. Everything from the use of modern and sustainable local construction materials to an expansive knowledge of trees, shrubs, grasses and lawns and the environments they prefer.

James has an interest in providing sustainable landscape designs where possible and uses local, recycled products with the least footprint.

Minimalist garden design is also an interest for James as many clients prefer a low maintenance garden. Building a minimalist garden can achieve this Eg. A feature tree or two, mass planting, sweeping lawns and architectural lines. The minimalist aesthetics perspective is that less is more.

Outside of work, James spends a lot of time in nature hiking, cycling throughout Australia and abroad as well as wandering through well-known gardens of the world. This gives James inspiration for his work and brings these experiences back to his clients' gardens.
